Origin Stories A Love for Lighthouses

One of my earliest memories of feeling the magnitude of a lighthouse came from a 1977 film called Pete’s Dragon. A scruffy young boy escaping a cruel life as an orphan finds the most incredible people a mother figure and a grandfather figure played by Mickey Rooney and they live in a lighthouse.

As much as I identified with the characters, the lighthouse held equal weight for me. It wasn’t just a backdrop. It was a beacon. A home. A safe place.

My love of lighthouses grew from that moment forward.
