📰The Odyssey Meets Forrest Gump: Karl Bushby

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Karl Bushby walked about 31,000 miles across 4 continents and swam the Caspian Sea and the English Channel before returning home to his mother this week. In the mid-90s a birthday card from his father Keith mentioned there were two special forces troops debating whether it was possible to walk from London to New York. Bushby figured five years on paper, expected 12 or more, and it took 28. On coming back Bushby said “They say it takes a village, but literally it took a world to get me here... I didn’t do this alone. There was a big team. The biggest team. Earth.”

📰Missouri Dog Breaks Record for Household Chore

Java, a 5-year-old black Lab from Kansas City, is a pro at laundry day. She had one minute to place clothespins on a line and managed to set the record in March with eight clothespins, and Guinness World Records made it official this week. She started as a service dog trainee but wasn't a good fit for the program, so Lisa Rickards, who raised her, adopted her back as a pet. Rickards said, "I joke that Java is fully caffeinated and absolutely lives up to her name. She has an enormous amount of enthusiasm for life and, more importantly, she genuinely loves learning."
