📰STEALING HEARTS AND STEALING BASES- THE CUBS MADE A ROM-COM
The Chicago Cubs just entered the scripted content biz. “Nine Innings to Love” is a 17-episode TikTok rom-com that follows two strangers who meet in the bleachers at Wrigley Field, told through all nine innings of one game. The team says its inspired by real fans who find love at games because nothing says romance like a $14 beer, a hot dog and a rain delay.
🐶Piper’s Breakdown: Never found love at a ballgame but I once found a half eaten hot dog by the bleachers still counts as a meet~cute right?🌭
📰CAT BURGLAR- KIRKLAND POLICE RESPOND TO A BOBCAT BURGLAR
A Washington resident called 911 after hearing some bizarre noises in their home. Afraid of a break-in they called the authorities and when police arrived they found a literal “cat burglar” a wild bobcat perched at the top of the stairs. Officers deployed a drone to safely track the burglar and guide it into a separate room. Wildlife officials sedated the bobcat and released it back into the wild and no human, pet or bobcat was injured in the catch or release.
🐶Piper’s Breakdown: I get in trouble for jumping on the kitchen table and that cat burgled a home then was left to do it again. Bob has big energy vibes!😹
📰THE ISLAND THAT WON’T STAY PUT- A MYSTERY OF B.C’S WANDERING RESERVOIR
Remember that mysterious floating island that showed up out of nowhere in a British Columbia reservoir then it vanished without explanation? It’s back and spotted 18 miles from its original location. Officials don’t know what’s moving it or why but at this point the island might have better travel plans than most of us
🐶Piper’s Breakdown: 18 miles of an unsupervised road trip! I get lost roaming to the mailbox.🚗🛣️📬
📰BRANDED PRODUCE- YOUR APPLE HAS A MARKETING TEAM
Turns out that Honeycrisp apple you love so much isn’t just an apple but a trademarked, licensed, heavily managed brand. It started a whole movement like Cotton Candy grapes, Cosmic Crisp apples and Sugarsnap tomatoes. Somewhere along the way, the produce aisle became a luxury goods industry and nobody sent a memo…
🐶Piper’s Breakdown: I get excited about a plain green bean, guess I’ve been settling for the generic brands this whole time.🍎🍇🫛
